House and pool cladding – House of the year 2011

Using a traditional natural material in contemporary architecture was the intention that brought together designer and stone mason Karel Hrdina with architect Ivo Švábenský. The result of their cooperation was awarded first place in the prestigious House of the Year Awards in 2011 in the category Individual house.

Stone as a natural material for veneer

A project investor, inspired by English and French countryside, had a clear idea. What appealed to him the most as materials was natural sandstone and wood and workmanship on the top level. We treasure the award the project received as we do the fact that we succeeded as a stonework supplier at such a demanding level.

Top stone work quality

Just to outline the challenge of this project - architekt Švábenský was successful with his design as the fifth approached author. With the go-ahead from the investor, he contacted the stone-mason master and designer, Mr. KarelHrdina. “As soon as I knew the investor wants natural stone, I contacted Karel Hrdina and we worked on the project in close cooperation until the whole building was finished. The quality and execution of work speaks for itself.” adds Švábenský.
